San Diego Comic-Con

Postby StudiosB3 » Mon Jun 05, 2006 7:30 am

Hello Gang!

It's long over due, but I'm making my first trek out to the Comic-Con. I'm looking for advice on how to get the most out of the event. I'm looking to network, learn some new stuff, and see lots of costumes.

Any advice?

First thing; get the program and encircle all the things you really want to do and see. There is always too much going on at the same time. So narrow down your choices again.
For networking, just find the companies you want to talk to and try and figure out where everyone is at. San Diego Comic Con is huge!
Do you have a professional pass? You know that if you are a professional you don't have to pay! If you have professional pass you are also allowed in the VIP room. A great room to network. The good thing about the badges is, that you can see someones name and the company they work for. Always a good start to start a conversation!

Hope this helped. Have lots of fun!

I am not going this year. I am jealous :?

Thanks for the response.

I've got the pre-reg for the professional pass all taken care of. I understand that the program of events dosen't come out until about 3 weeks before the conference. I hope to see alot of you guys there!

I've gone four times. I love the Quick Draw Panel. with Sergio Aragones and others. I would never miss Quick Draw.

http://kwc.org/blog/archives/2005/2005- ... _draw.html

Seeing Jack Black Perform , after promo for King Kong last year was a TREAT. You never know what surprises you'll encounter!

THe advice about using the schedule to decide on your personal MUST see
presentations... that's good... or you're likely to roam in daze on the
main floor for hours there is so much to see.

Besure to spend time with the independent artists On" Artist Alley"
that's usually where I find my friends....

Oh yeah bring a samich and bottle water ... the food is tooooo expensive and you waste time waiting in stupid lines for overpriced hotdogs.

I actually never have purchased anything at Comicon ...
. but you end up with a lot of paper so maybe bring a canvas bag to comfortabley carry your sure to grow collection of empherma.

Best convention advice I ever got was from Bill Kroyer, prior to a Siggraph.
He said "Bring a tote bag"

In the evenings, after the event the streets are filled with frolickers.
All the restaurants near the convention are full of happy conventioneers
after the Sat night doors close at the convention Hall.
Get a hotel in the zone of the convention center and have a great time.

I just like to go because I don't do psychadelic drugs and this is my equivalent trance.. The circus coming to town sort of thing.

Whoo-hoo! I spent the day getting everything ready for Tuesday, when we leave South Africa on our way to the Con! My first time at the Con and my first time overseas!

I'll be in NY and LA before making my way to San Diego.

Hope to see some of you there! Thanks for the tips!

Cheers

Hennie
